Per the title, my patience has grown thin. Because of what you might ask. It’s because of the Spurs and coach Popovich. I cannot understand why Matt Bonner still gets the go ahead at the starting Center spot. Let’s see…for his size he is rather weak in the paint, he can’t jump very high (yep, he’s white), his defense is shaky at best, and he’s inconsistent. I love him as an overall player, but absolutely NOT as a Center…starting or not. He is definitely a Power Forward and he should only come off the bench…no start, no start, no start.
Next point regarding the Spurs. Tony Parker used to have it…now he doesn’t. I want to voice my hatred towards how Richard Jefferson has played all year, but TP hasn’t been right for the past couple of seasons. Now it seems the length of time off he had during the All-Star Break wasn’t enough. He still “isn’t right physically” I think is how Coach Pop put it. I’d trade him this summer. Sure he’s still a great player, but SA has George Hill now. Though he may like showing himself and his little buddy via sexting to his girlfriend, at least he shows consistent hustle on both ends of the floor.
Speaking of trades…I’m so glad Roger Mason, Jr. didn’t go away. I met the guy last season and he is as down-to-earth as they come. Also, his clutch factor is huge on this roster, since scoring is sometimes M.I.A. most games. He is also one of the few NBA players to actually hold a degree…gotta respect that.
One of my final points, until I watch tomorrow’s game against Detroit and get pissed off again, is Ian Mahinmi. He isn’t signed for next season, so why doesn’t SA get their money’s worth and use him? He gets worse than garbage minutes. He’s young, athletic, tall, and fast. He’s also a real Center…so why does he find himself riding the bench so much? More often than not he’s sporting this militant looking, GQ cut jacket and a some dress pants because he’s actually BEHIND the bench on an inactive slot of the roster. Supposedly he’d be playing in Austin in the D-League if it weren’t for him having used up his time there already. What would he learn in a Guard’s league? Throw him to the lions in the NBA and see if he can improve his game.
I’d like to see this group of starters for at least one game…Hill-Mason-Ginobili-Blair-Mahinmi. It’s a somewhat small lineup, but it seems like it could yield some quick points.
